Freedom of the Seas passing under Storebæltsbroen
On April 16, RCCL’s new giant cruise ship "Freedom of the Seas" passed under the Danish “Storebæltsbroen” bridge on her delivery positioning voyage from Aker Yards (FI) to Hamburg.
Even though the free height under the bridge is almost 70 meter, “Freedom of the Seas” had to go under the bridge while the sea level was at its low and to sail at full speed to utilize the “squat” effect to reduce the air draft.
“Freedom of the Seas” will start sailing cruises in the Caribbean this summer. With a passenger capacity of over 3,600 in double occupancy, the 339 m long and 56 m wide vessel is like a small city with numerous shops, restaurants and services and with features such as 3 pools, a rock-climbing wall, a surfing simulator and an ice-skating rink.
BLÜCHER has supplied BLÜCHER EuroPipe® push-fit drainage pipework system for the black- and grey-water system of "Freedom of the Seas".
